Helen worked with pre-school children for 16 years, and as a special police constable in the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary where she met her husband. While with the police she encountered a range of situations from domestic violence, to drug use, to helping people with minor problems such as lost property.
In 1996 her life changed dramatically when she was diagnosed with a serious heart condition and was then unable to work. Fast forward to 2021 and she is now working in a support role and loving life all thanks to a life saving heart transplant in 2018. Outside of work her family keeps her very busy, and when she finds the time she cross stitches and bakes.
