Our Projects

Collaborative Working

We believe that a community thrives when people, organisations and authorities work together towards the same outcomes. Our additional projects are all about collaboration and have been successful in making lasting, positive change.

In the past we have worked with Local Authorities, health commissioners, private businesses and other charitable organisations to support vulnerable and homeless individuals across Cornwall.

Hepatitis C Pathway

A joint project with We Are With You, the NHS and Gilead Sciences Inc. Those rough sleeping are particularly at risk of hepatitis C and face many barriers to treatment. This scheme identifies those that have the virus and supports them through the whole treatment service while residing in our accommodation.

STAR Project

Harbour provided the support for the council’s Short Term Accommodation and Resettlement (STAR) pilot scheme. This saw entrenched rough sleepers provided with short term accommodation and intensive support to overcome barriers to a long term tenancy.

Housing First

Harbour Housing was the chosen support provider for Cornwall Council’s pilot of the Housing First scheme. This saw individuals housed in suitable accommodation first and then supported to address their issues. Based on the belief that safe housing should not be conditional, this saw the most entrenched homeless individuals given wrap around person-centred support to maintain a tenancy.

End of Life Care

Everyone deserves dignity at the end of life, and to be surrounded by those they trust in a familiar setting. We are working with Cornwall Hospice Care and St Austell Health Care to ensure that vulnerable and homeless individuals are not denied this right.

Landlord Incentive Scheme

Harbour Housing provided the support element to this council scheme which provided transitional support to both tenant and landlord after a move on from supported accommodation into an independent tenancy. After a successful pilot, Harbour Housing is now running an independent scheme on this model with funding from Nationwide Building Society.
